Interior Painting colors

How to choose your colors and what do they convey

How you’re feeling could depend on the colours that surround you.

You don’t have to worry about trends in order to have a beautiful home. Color trends will come and go. The people who live in a home make it beautiful by choosing colors that reflect their preferences and personalities. The trick is to blend the colors you like into a pleasing combination.

Colors act in three basic ways: active, passive and neutral. You can easily match every room’s colors to your personal desires, to your taste and to the room’s purpose. Light colors are expansive and airy, making rooms seem larger and brighter. Dark colors are sophisticated and warm; they give large rooms a more intimate appearance.

LETS GO DEEP INTO ANALYSING COLORS :

Red

Red raises a room’s energy level. The most intense color, it pumps the adrenaline like no other hue. It is a good choice when you want to stir up excitement

It’s a great colour to use for socialising,  we would suggest that you keep this colour to social rooms as opposed to rooms that are meant to be for relaxing. In the living room or dining room, red draws people together and stimulates conversation. In an entryway, it creates a strong first impression.

While many people link red to romance and roses, it is also linked to hostility and rage. Red is known to raise blood pressure, heart beat and irritability.

Yellow

Yellow captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness. It is an excellent choice for kitchens, dining rooms and bathrooms, where it is energizing and uplifting. In halls, entries and small spaces, yellow can feel expansive and welcoming.

Beware of large doses of any of these colors. Bright yellow, for example, can quickly move from cheerful to abrasive. Rather than painting an entire room the color of McDonald’s golden arches, choose a toned-down shade or use that vivid yellow as an accent against a neutral backdrop, like gray

yellow although is a cheery color, it is not a good choice for main color schemes.. In large amounts, this color tends to create feelings of frustration and anger. In chromotherapy, yellow is believed to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.

Blue

Blue is a very calming colour that can make you feel centred, relaxed and serene. It is known to help lower blood pressure, clear the mind and help steady one’s breathing., and it is often recommended for bedrooms and bathrooms.

A pastel blue that looks pretty on the paint chip can come across as unpleasantly chilly on the walls and furnishings, however, especially in a room that receives little natural lightWhile blue rooms are lovely to lounge and rest in, it is important to note that pastel blues can come across as very cold and chilly. Light, warm blues are great and are easily balanced with warm hues and furnishing.

To encourage relaxation in social areas such as family rooms, living rooms or large kitchens, consider warmer blues, such as periwinkle, or bright blues, such as cerulean or turquoise. Blue is known to have a calming effect when used as the main color of a room — but go for softer shades. Dark blue has the opposite effect, evoking feelings of sadness. Refrain from using darker blues in your main color scheme.

Green

Green is considered the most restful color for the eye. Combining the refreshing quality of blue and the cheerfulness of yellow, green is suited for almost any room on the house. In the kitchen, green cools things down; in a family room or living room, it encourages unwinding but has enough warmth to promote comfort and togetherness.

Green also has a calming effect when used as a main color for decorating. It is believed to relieve stress by helping people relax. It is also believed to help with fertility, making it a great choice for the bedroom.

For those who love the outdoors, it also gives an outdoorsy, natural feel – much like blue speaks to those whose hearts truly lie by the water.

Orange

Orange is a very exciting colour that brings a burst of energy and enthusiasm. It’s a great colour to exercise around, but not so good for living rooms or bedrooms where we want to wind down.

Orange can also stimulate your appetite so, if you’re trying to be a little more healthy and calorie conscious, we wouldn’t recommend this colour for your kitchen.

White

White instils the fear of dirt in even the messiest of people. But painting your walls white or off-white is a great way to help make your home feel more spacious and open and the people within it more neutral. Not necessarily an energy nor calm inducing colour, white gives a happy medium that leaves you feeling clean.

White rooms give an automatic feel of cleanliness and purity. The colour white itself stands for protection, innocence and goodness, to name a few.

Painting your ceilings white or off white are easy options that go with just about every colour and gives the illusion that the ceiling is higher and the room is bigger.

Resorting to white walls simply to avoid color is missing a design opportunity. Treat white like any other color and don’t be afraid to use it liberally.

Neutrals (black, gray, and brown) are basic to the decorator’s tool kit. All-neutral schemes fall in and out of fashion, but their virtue lies in their flexibility: Add color to liven things up; subtract it to calm things down.

Black is best used in small doses as an accent. Indeed, some experts maintain that every room needs a touch of black to ground the color scheme and give it depth. To make the job easier, rely on the interior designer’s most important color tool: the color wheel.

Remember These guidelines are a Just  agood starting point in your search for a paint color. Keep in mind that color choice is a very personal matter; you are the one who has to live with your new paint color, so choose a hue that suits you, your family and your lifestyle
